Nutritional Supplements

Groups of Nutritional Supplements.

There are so many different nutritional supplement reviews around it is a minefield trying to decide which one is best. Nutritional supplement information can be broken down into two groups: those supplements that the body needs in order to stay healthy when undergoing heavy workouts and those supplements used to increase your performance, such as obtaining increased energy, muscle mass or weight gain.

Nutritional Supplement Essentials

Firstly lets deal with the essential supplements that every bodybuilder should be taking. These can be expensive, but are not usually quite as expensive as the nutritional supplements needed to enhance performance. These are the supplements that the body needs to avoid muscle deterioration, fatigue and illness.

Of course we are talking about essential multivitamins and minerals in the bodybuilding nutritional supplement context. These should be taken each day in the morning to help the body get the nutrients it needs and to properly digest and use the food eaten during the rest of the day. They also help to keep hormonal levels normal and help bones and muscles to grow properly.

In addition to these, it is suggested that vitamin C be taken three times a day because it seems to lower the body’s cortisol levels. Cortisol is a hormone which causes the body to store fat and destroy muscle, so by influencing it’s amount in the body it can have a positive effect for bodybuilders. In addition, Vitamin C is good for the immune system so it helps to keep individuals healthy and illness free. Chromium Picolinate is another supplement that is essential to take at breakfast and also after working out during the day according to bodybuilding information. This helps the body to be able to absorb insulin so that the body’s glucose levels stay constant.

Flax seed oil is another bodybuilding nutritional supplement often mentioned. This should be taken in the morning and at night so that the individual ingests at least fourteen grams of it for every one hundred pounds of their bodyweight.  Predominantly a fatty acid it helps gain muscle mass as well as aiding fat loss.

Summary

In conclusion then, these nutritional supplements are the crucial ones according to current supplement wisdom and whilst there will always be debate over the latest supplement these are probably not the ones to be left out of the serious bodybuilder’s diet.
