What Is Appecia?
Appecia is a medicine that regrows visible, natural-looking hair.[1] Appecia has been proven to block the formation of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in men with male-pattern hair loss, and this can contribute to a decrease in or arrest of baldness. Clinical studies have shown that men who took Appecia maintained or increased their numbers of visible scalp hairs and that many noticed an improvement in overall hair maintenance and growth.[2] Appecia is the only tablet for male-pattern hair loss approved for use worldwide. Data from double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trials first demonstrated the safety and efficacy of Appecia in 1,553 men between 18 and 41 with mild-to-moderate male-pattern baldness (androgentic alopecia) in the vertex region (top of the head).[3] More than 90% of men who use Appecia get visible results.[4] Appecia is also used as a treatment in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in low doses, and in prostate cancer in higher doses.[5]
How Do I Use Appecia?
Appecia is taken as a tablet orally and works systemically.[6] The drug must be taken daily for the rest of your life or until more effective treatments become available.[7] This drug should be taken with a full glass of water, with or without food.[8] Appecia should be stored in a sealed bottle away from moisture, heat, and light at room temperature.[9] The medicine is not indicated for use in women, and pregnant or breastfeeding women should not handle broken Appecia pills.[10] If a woman accidentally comes into contact with this medicine from a broken or crushed pill, she should wash the affected area with soap and water immediately.[11]
Are There Any Side Effects?
Appecia’s side effects are primarily sexual and relatively uncommon: they strike one to two men in a hundred. If any side effects develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible.[12] Appecia pills should not be handled by women who are pregnant or who may become pregnant. However, Appecia pills are coated and will prevent contact with the active ingredient during normal handling, provided that the pills are not broken or crushed.[11] Pregnant women must avoid Appecia because it is known to cause birth defects in developing male babies.[13]
How Much Does Appecia Cost?
Appecia is available in varying quantities; 90-pill packs often cost between US$125.00 and US$175.00.[7] However, significant savings can be found at discount prescription drug stores, where prices for 90-pill boxes can be well under half as much.
